Childhood friends and fellow word puzzlers

Created by Monica 2 years ago

I am also an Ashtead girl and as children Hilary, Reita Spillane née Stewart and myself Monica Turnbull née Button would play in the loft above the garage at Hilary's house.  Time parted us but latterly we were reunited via Facebook and all through lockdown we were having daily battles in numerous word games and chatting as we went.  We shared a love of nature and gardening and I greatly enjoyed seeing the photographs that Hilary posted of her beautiful garden and her countryside walks.  I'm so sad not to have had the chance to meet up in person with the 'grown up' Hilary - the person who had become an obviously wonderful and much loved Mum.

My condolences to all Hilary's family - especially Keith - but we will all carry her in our hearts and as the poem says - talk to her still.
